April Update 04/13/2012
Greetings Brethren, Family, & Friends,I pray this email finds you growing in the grace and knowledge of God. It’s been a while since I’ve sent out an update. We are all doing well and continuing to minister and preach here in Albuquerque. For those who don’t know, I had a little setback in December due to having my appendix removed. Early in December, I started feeling pain in my side but didn’t think too much about it. However, as a couple days went by, it kept getting worse. I thought I had only pulled a muscle, so I was still going out evangelizing everyday. Then one day I woke up and the pain was really intense. I did a little research online and from that was pretty convinced that my appendix had burst. I drove to the hospital and they did a CT scan and found that my appendix had ruptured. They said my abdomen was a total mess. Apparently my appendix had been ruptured for a few days. They took me into surgery right away and everything went fine. In fact, the surgery was relatively quick, and I had pretty much recovered after about a week. Even though I knew that having my appendix removed was pretty minor as far as surgeries go, it still made me think about the shortness of our life and the frailty of our mortal bodies. It doesn’t take much for these bodies of ours to shut down and bring an end to our life here on earth. When you think about it, in light of eternity, it’s only a matter of moments that we’re here on earth before we pass on and, for the believer, go and meet the Lord. How short this life is, and unfortunately, how often we can find ourselves preoccupied with things that mean nothing in light of eternity and Christ’s everlasting Kingdom. These verses in Ecclesiastes have always help me have the right perspective (or bring me to a place of sobriety when I don‘t): It is better to go to the house of mourning, than to go to the house of feasting: for that is the end of all men; and the living will lay it to his heart. (Ecc 7:2) The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning; but the heart of fools is in the house of mirth. (Ecc 7:4) How much better it is to think about our own mortality, the shortness of our life, our accountability to God, and the coming judgment than to fill our lives with pleasures that put us into a state of spiritual slumber. A wise man will “lay these things to his heart” and live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present world. Solomon ends the book of Ecclesiastes with words that we should all meditate on frequently: Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil. (Ecc 12:13-14) God will judge all of our works. Not just the works themselves, but also the motives of our heart in the things we do. Even for the believer, what a somber day it will be to stand before God and have our life and works judged by the One who is perfect, who sees us as we really are, the One who is not deceived or fooled by the pretense and show that we so often put on before others. And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account. (Heb 4:13) God sees us as we really are. Brethren, I pray that you will take these things to heart and be reminded of the shortness of your life, your accountability to God, and His seriousness about His Gospel and His Kingdom. As pilgrims and strangers, may you pass your time here with godly fear and live soberly, watching your souls, knowing that you will give an account for the “much” that has been given to you through and in the gospel. I pray you take this short exhortation to heart and examine your life. May you be found living in such a way that when Jesus returns, you will not be ashamed at His coming. To my friends and family who remain unconverted, or who take the name of Jesus without having experienced the new birth (John 3), I want to exhort you as well. I pray you will read the above scriptures as well and let them cause you to think on your own mortality. Let them remind and teach you of the reality that you too will die and will stand before God in judgment and give an account of your life. The All-Powerful, Ever-Present, All-Knowing God; the one who formed you in your mother’s womb, the one who knows all your thoughts and every deed you’ve ever done; He will bring all your secret things to light on the day that you must account for your life. Apart from real repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, there will be no hope for you on that DAY. If you die in your sins, you will not find the goodness and mercy of God on the day you are judged. You will find God sentencing you to eternal damnation for your sins and for your unwillingness to receive the pardon for your sins that God has provided at Christ expense. And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. (Dan 12:2) And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal. (Mat 25:46) Are you willing to continue on in sin and rebellion when God, through His great mercy and grace, has provided a way for all your sins to be forgiven? God has made a way for you to be reconciled to Him through the death of His Son Jesus Christ. Not only has God made a way for your sins to be forgiven and for you to be reconciled, but God has broken the power of sin through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. If you have not put your faith in Christ and have not received the New Birth spoken of by Jesus in John 3, you stand on no safe ground; and if you die in this state, your future will be forever sealed by the wisdom and word of God. The only place fit for willful rebels who reject the goodness and grace of God is Hell and the Lake of Fire. It is the portion and destination of all who chose to rule their own life and reject the goodness and grace of God in Jesus Christ. However, that doesn’t have to be your future. Your sins, like the sins of all people, deserve to be punished. God however, sent Jesus Christ, His Son, into the world to be a substitute for us by becoming a sacrifice for our sins. Jesus Christ lived a perfect sin-free life with the intention of laying His life down, so that we could be saved from our sins and be brought to God. It was the good pleasure of God to have His Son make payment for our sins. 2000 years ago, Jesus Christ was crucified for the sins of the world. He bore the wrath of God for our sins and became a substitute for all who put their faith in Him. In Isaiah it says: Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken. (Isa 53:4-8) And then…. Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. (Isa 53:10-11) It pleased God to offer up His Son to justify and save those who believe in Jesus; those who repent and put their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and what He has done. Jesus Christ has already died as a sacrifice for sins. God verified that the sacrifice of Jesus was accepted and perfect because three days after Jesus was crucified and buried, God raised Him from the dead, never to die again. This same Jesus who created the worlds, who created you, who became a man, who was crucified for our sins, who was buried and raised from the dead, who ascended to heaven, who is seated at the right hand of God, and who is returning to earth, He is the same Jesus before whom you will stand on judgment day. He is the one to whom you will give an account of your life. Will you stand before Him in your sins and be ultimately condemned for all eternity? Or will you accept the love and grace of God and put your faith in Jesus Christ and be saved? God freely offers eternal life to all who put their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. (Joh 3:16-17) The Father loves the Son and has given all things into his hand. Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him. (Joh 3:35-36) You must cease from trusting in anything you do and put all your trust in Jesus Christ and what He has done for you on the cross. If you will do that, you will find that God will forgive all your sins, He will give you eternal life, AND He will deliver you from the power and bondage of sin. By putting your faith in Christ, God will shed His love abroad in your heart, and you will be reconciled to God the Father. You will be adopted into God’s family and have an eternal inheritance with all those who have the same precious faith. When you put your faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, you will experience what Jesus calls “the New Birth.” You will be born-again. I know there are many of you who receive my updates, both family and friends, who say you believe in Jesus, but who have never experienced the new birth that the Bible speaks of (nor do you live a life of “doing the will of God“). You have never had God’s love shed abroad in your heart and have never been delivered from the power of sin. You hold to the name of Jesus (when asked) but do not have a life that shows that you have been born again and are actively following the Lord because of a genuine love for Him and His Kingdom. It is possible to have a “false faith” that is no faith at all. Don’t deceive yourself into believing you have something when in reality you don’t. When you truly repent and put your faith in Jesus Christ, God will put His Holy Spirit inside of you. You will become a new person. Your conscience will be cleansed from the guilt of your sins, and you will experience peace with God. God will go from becoming “something you know about” to Someone you know. Your faith will produce an experience, and the experience is that the living God will dwell within you and His Spirit will testify to you that you are His. Jesus Christ is the “door” that all must come to and through to be saved. I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture. (Joh 10:9) The fruit, or result, of having true, saving faith is that you will find that you now have a desire to “do the will of God” that you didn’t have before. It will be the joy and focus of your life. Jesus said: "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. (Mat 7:21) The result of being born-again, being born of God, is that you will begin to “do His will.” Your passion, desire, and practice will be to do the will of God and to continue to do the will of God as you grow in His grace and in the knowledge of Him. So let me ask you, won’t you come to Jesus and be saved? Isn’t it time to think about what really matters, what’s really important? Isn’t it time to stop being unbelieving and to stop trusting in a false faith? God will freely receive you today as His own, if you will but repent and put your trust in Jesus Christ and what He has already done to provide you with salvation. Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. (Rom 10:9-10) Though we deserve nothing but judgment and damnation, God has shown us His love and mercy: But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. (Rom 5:8-9) Eternal life is a free gift from God. If you will but believe what God has done for us through Christ and receive Him, God will give you eternal life. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. (Eph 2:8-9) If you reject Jesus Christ and His word and do not believe that He is who He says He is, you will die in your sins. You will never know the peace and love of God, and you will have to pay for your own sins in the Lake of Fire throughout all eternity. Please don’t remain unbelieving or trust in a false faith that is actually no faith at all. I pray you will take these truths to heart, humble yourself under the love and grace of God, and begin a new life today with God and His Son Jesus Christ. EVANGELISM I’ve been consistently evangelizing every week. For the most part, I’ve been evangelizing at the bus stops and at the University of New Mexico. While I’ve had some decent conversations, which I believe the Lord has used to plant gospel seeds in people’s hearts, for the most part, it’s been a tough winter. We had one man who was coming to Bible study for a while, and it seemed as if the Lord was working in his heart, but as of now, any interest in the Lord that he seemed to have has faded away. When I evangelize, I pass out tracts that have our contact information on them. There are some people that periodically stay in touch with me and ask questions regarding the scriptures. Hopefully we’ll see the Lord bring some of them to faith and repentance. Also, because I’ve been continuing to evangelize at the same places, I often have the opportunity to speak to the same person on multiple occasions. In these instances, our conversations have been fruitful, and I’m able to build upon what we’ve talked about before. In fact, some people have seen me on the street and have come up to me to continue talking about the Lord. For that I’ve been thankful. If you are unfamiliar with New Mexico, there is a huge Native American population here. As much as you hate to validate some stereotypes, it’s quite true that many Natives are alcoholics. A good portion of the Natives that I meet on the street are consistently drunk and pretty aggressive. I usually don’t try to engage people when they are drunk, but sometimes they come to you and you can’t avoid it. Almost all of these interactions are fruitless. Many times, Natives have seen me passing out tracts and evangelizing, and they will come right up into my face and start cussing me out and being belligerent. I usually try to calm them down and move on and talk to people who want to listen. The other day, I was passing out tracts at one of the bus stops where I usually go. I passed out tracts to everyone at the stop and then proceeded to talk to someone who was sitting on the wall behind the bus stop. We were having a good conversation when three of the Indians who were at the bus stop came over to us. Two of them got in my face; they were cussing me out and standing as if they were about to throw punches. I really thought that in any minute, they were going to jump me. I’ve been in situations like this before but never to where I was actually just waiting to get hit. One guy was calling me a snitch, and the other one kept saying that I wanted to start stuff with Indians (even though they came to me!). However, as it was escalating, for some reason, the third guy all of the sudden wanted to leave, and he pulled the other guys and got them to leave with him. I was definitely relieved and believe it was the Lord who just pulled them away. The great thing was that the guy who I was originally talking to before these three guys walked up had heard everything, and now he was really open to listen to what I had to say! Having witnessed what had just happened, it led him to ask some good questions, and I was able to speak to this man about His and everyone’s need for Christ. (Please pray that God would give us grace with Natives Americans that we preach to on the street; that God would break through their bondage and strongholds and that His love would be manifested to them through the revelation of Jesus Christ.) Through all this though, the Lord did encourage me by letting me meet another brother in the Lord when I was about preaching one day. When I was out one day, I saw a man and his wife who were preaching to a couple guys, and then he started to pray with them. I was kind of surprised because you just don’t see this everyday. So I decided to wait until he was done praying and say hi and introduce myself to him. Turns out he’s a real brother in the Lord. He had also just left his fellowship, due to the same reason many today find themselves without fellowship. So he’s been able to fellowship with us many times and has gone with me to do street ministry as well. I’m thankful that I can go out and preach the word of God, but I do rejoice when I can go with someone else as well! DOOR TO DOOR In addition to preaching on the streets, Braden and I have been evangelizing by going door to door in the neighborhoods around where we live. Unfortunately, the first thing people think about you when you come to the door is that you are either a Mormon or a Jehovah’s Witness. While these cults almost exclusively propagate their faith by going door to door, it’s seldom that you see Christians doing the same thing. Not having done much door to door myself here in the US (mostly street evangelism and open air preaching), I was actually surprised at how open people were to hearing the gospel. In fact, so far there are several people that I’ve been able to follow up with and continue to sow the word of God into. With God’s grace, we’re going to continue preaching Jesus door to door. FELLOWSHIP Our small fellowship is growing. We recently had a brother name Jeff, his wife Abby, and their five kids move to Albuquerque to join us for fellowship and ministry. They moved from Texas, and we’re glad to have them here with us! The brother I met on the street who evangelizes has also been fellowshipping with us when his work has him in town. We continue to have a few people come and go here and there and are praying the Lord will add new converts to our fellowship. BROTHER ISMAIL AND BROTHER NOE Thanks to all of you who sent funds to help brother Ismail’s wife Ester with her surgery. Everything went well and she has recovered. Brother Noe in Mexico is doing well too. I talk with him fairly frequently. He continues to faithfully preach on the streets every week and also spends him time encouraging new believers. Both of these brothers greatly appreciate the pray and support that some of you send to them. If you would, please keep our family, fellowship, and ministry in prayer. I am so aware that without Christ, we can do nothing. It is only by His grace and His working in and through us that we can see His kingdom expand and His name glorified through our lives. Thank you to all of you who do keep us in prayer, encourage us with your fellowship and correspondences, and for those who support us financially. We’re truly thankful for all that you do for us in the Lord. May the Lord bless you…. IN Christ,Sean & Lisa Scott www.preachingjesus.wordpress.com Add Comment O the deep deep love 04/12/2012
I love this song. Its very sweet and simple. Its about the deep love of Jesus! I know it can be very easy to get so focus on doctrines, works, and everything else that you forget about God's deep love for His children.. for you (born again believers). Be Still.. Listen.. Meditate.. and Worship with me :) Let His love break you down to a child again and bring you back to your first love. Its His deep love that sets us free.. Oh the deep, deep love of Jesus Vast, unmeasured, boundless, free Rolling as a mighty ocean In its fullness over me Underneath me, all around me Is the current of Your love Leading onward, leading homeward To Your glorious rest above Oh the deep, deep love All I need and trust Is the deep, deep love of Jesus Oh the deep, deep love of Jesus Spread His praise from shore to shore How He came to pay our ransom Through the saving cross He bore How He watches o’er His loved ones Those He died to make His own How for them He’s interceding Pleading now before the throne Oh the deep, deep love of Jesus Far surpassing all the rest It’s an ocean full of blessing In the midst of every test Oh the deep, deep love of Jesus Mighty Savior, precious Friend You will bring us home to glory Where Your love will never end Be Still.. 04/11/2012
Be still and know that I am God. Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; for I shall yet praise Him, the help of my countenance and my God I hear the tumult of the raging seas as Your waves and surging tides sweep over me. But each day the Lord pours His unfailing love upon me, and through each night I sing His songs, praying to God who gives me life For as the heavens are high above the earth, So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him; As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us. As a father pities his children, So the Lord pities those who fear Him. For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust. Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.. Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Blessed is the man who trust in You Ministry to the Lord By Watchman Nee 04/09/2012
Let us note at the outset that there is little apparent difference between ministry to the House of the Lord and ministry to the Lord Himself. Many of you are doing your utmost to help your brethren, and you are labouring to save sinners and administer the affairs of the church. But let me ask you: Have you been seeking to meet the need around you, or have you been seeking to serve the Lord? Is it your fellow men you have in view, or is it Him? Let us be quite frank. Work for the Lord undoubtedly has its attractions for the flesh. You may be thrilled when crowds gather to hear you preach, and when numbers of souls are saved. If you have to stay at home, occupied from morning to night with mundane matters, then you think: How meaningless life is! How grand it would be if I could go out and serve the Lord! If only I were free to go around ministering! But that is not spirituality. That is merely a matter of natural preference. Oh, if only we could see that much of the work done for God is not really ministry at all! He, Himself, has told us that there was a class of Levites who busily served in the Temple, and yet they were not serving Him; they were merely serving the House. However, service to the Lord and service to the House appear so much alike that it is often difficult to differentiate between the two. If an Israelite came along to the Temple and wanted to worship God, those Levites would come to his aid and help him offer his peace offering and his burnt offering. They would help him drag the sacrifice to the altar, and they would slay it. Surely that was a grand work to be engaged in, reclaiming sinners and leading believers closer to the Lord! And God took account of the service of those Levites who helped men bring their peace offerings and their burnt offerings to the altar. Yet He said it was not ministry to Himself. Brothers and sisters, there is a heavy burden on my heart that you might realise what God is after. He wants ministers who will minister to Him. "They shall come near to me to minister unto me; and they shall stand before me to offer unto me the fat and the blood. They shall minister unto me" (Ezekiel 44:15). The thing I fear most is that many of you will go out and win sinners to the Lord and build up believers, without ministering to the Lord Himself. Much so-called service for Him is simply following our natural inclinations. We have such active dispositions that we cannot bear to stay at home, so we run around for our own relief. We may appear to be serving sinners, or serving believers, but all the while we are serving our own flesh. I have a dear friend who is now with the Lord. One day, after we had a time of prayer together, we read this passage in Ezekiel (44:9-26, 28, 31 ). She was very much older than I, and she addressed me like this: "My young brother, it was twenty years ago that I first studied this passage of Scripture." "How did you react to it?" I asked. She replied: "As soon as I had finished reading it, I closed my Bible, and kneeling down before the Lord, I prayed: `Lord, make me to be one who shall minister to You, not to the Temple."' Can we also pray that prayer? But what do we really mean when we talk of serving God or serving the Temple? Here is what the Word says: But the priests, the Levites, the sons of Zadok, that kept the charge of my sanctuary when the children of Israel went astray from me, they shall come near to me to minister unto me; and they shall stand before me to offer unto me the fat and the blood, saith the LORD God (Ezekiel 44:15). The conditions basic to all ministry that can truly be called ministry to the Lord are drawing near to Him and standing before Him. But how hard we often find it to drag ourselves into His presence! We shrink from the solitude, and even when we do detach ourselves physically, our thoughts still keep wandering outside. Many of us can enjoy working among people, but how many of us can draw near to God in the Holy of Holies? Yet it is only as we draw near to Him that we can minister to Him. To come into the presence of God and kneel before Him for an hour demands all the strength we possess. We have to be violent to hold that ground. But everyone who serves the Lord knows the preciousness of such times, the sweetness of waking at midnight and spending an hour in prayer, or waking very early in the morning and getting up for an hour of prayer before the final sleep of the night. Unless we really know what it is to draw near to God, we cannot know what it is to serve Him. It is impossible to stand afar off and still minister to Him. We cannot serve Him from a distance. There is only one place where ministry to Him is possible and that is in the Holy Place. In the outer court you approach the people; in the Holy Place you approach the Lord. The passage we ' have quoted emphasises not only our need to draw near to God; it also speaks of standing before Him to minister. Today we always want to be moving on; we cannot stand still. There are, so many things claiming our attention that we are perpetually on the go. We cannot stop for a moment. But a spiritual person knows how to stand still. He can stand before God till God makes His will known. He can stand and await orders. You who are leaders need to particularly consider this. Can you be persuaded to call a halt and not move for a little while? That is what is referred to here: "stand and minister unto me." Don't you think that a servant should await his master's orders before seeking to serve him? The Sin of presumption There are only two types of sin before God. One is the sin of refusing to obey when He issues orders. The other is the sin of going ahead when the Lord has not issued orders. The one is rebellion; the other is presumption. The one is not doing what the Lord has required; the other is doing what the Lord has not required. Learning to stand before the Lord deals with the sin of doing what the Lord has not commanded. Brothers and sisters, how much of the work you have done has been based on the clear command of the Lord? How much have you done because of His direct instructions? And how much have you done simply on the ground that the thing you did was a good thing to do? Let me tell you that nothing so damages the Lord's interests as a "good thing." "Good things" are the greatest hindrance to the accomplishment of His will. The moment we are faced with anything wicked or unclean, we immediately recognise it as something a Christian ought to avoid, and for that reason, things which are positively evil are nearly not such a menace to the Lord's purpose as good things. You think: This thing would not be wrong, or That thing is the very best that could be done so you go ahead and take action without stopping to inquire if it is the will of God. We who are His children all know that we ought not to do anything evil, but we think that if only our conscience does not forbid a thing, or if a thing commends itself to us as positively good, that is reason enough to go ahead and do it. 'That thing you contemplate doing may be very good, but are you standing before the Lord awaiting His command regarding it? "They shall stand before me" involves halting in His presence and refusing to move till He issues His orders. That is what ministry to the Lord means. In the outer court it is human need that governs. Just let someone come along to sacrifice an ox or a sheep, and there is work for you to do. But in the Holiest Place there is utter solitude. Not a soul comes in. No brother or sister governs us here, nor does any committee determine our affairs. In the Holiest Place there is one authority only - the authority of the Lord. If He appoints me a task I do it; if He appoints me no task, I do none. But something is required of us as we stand before the Lord and minister to Him. We are required to offer Him "the fat and the blood." The blood answers the demands of His holiness and righteousness; the fat meets the requirements of His glory. The blood deals with the question of our sin; the fat deals with the question of His satisfaction. The blood removes all that belongs to the old creation; the fat brings in the new. But such ministry is confined to a certain place: "They shall enter into my sanctuary, and they shall come near to my table to minister unto me, and they shall keep my charge" (Ezekiel 44:16). Ministry that is "unto me" is in the inner sanctuary, in the hidden place, not in the outer court, exposed to public view. People may think we are doing nothing, but service to God in the Holy Place far transcends service to the people in the outer court. Ministry Without Sweat The same passage tells us how they must be clothed who would minister to the Lord: They shall be clothed with linen garments; and no wool shall come upon them, while they minister in the gates of the inner court, and within. They shall have linen bonnets upon their heads, and shall have linen breeches upon their loins (Ezekiel 44:18). Those who minister to the Lord may not wear wool. Why not? The reason is given: "They shall not clothe themselves with anything that causes sweat" (verse 18 NKJV). No work chat produces sweat is acceptable to the Lord. But what does "sweat" signify? We all know that the first occasion when sweat is mentioned was when Adam was driven from the Garden of Eden. After Adam sinned, God pronounced this sentence upon him: "Cursed is the ground for thy sake; in toil shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life...in the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread" (Genesis 3:19-19). It is clear that sweat is a condition of the curse. Because the curse rested on the ground, it ceased to yield its fruit without man's effort, and such effort produced sweat. When the blessing of God is withheld, fleshly effort becomes necessary, and that causes sweat. All work that produces sweat is positively prohibited to those who minister to the Lord. Yet today what an expenditure of energy there is in work for Him! Few Christians can do any work today without sweating over it. Their work involves planning and scheming, exhorting and urging, and very much running around. It cannot be done without a great deal of fleshly zeal. Nowadays, if there is no sweat there is no work. Before work for God can be undertaken, there is a great deal of rushing to and fro, making numerous contacts, having consultations and discussions, and finally getting the approval of various people before going ahead. As for waiting quietly in the presence of God and seeking His instructions, that is out of the question. Yet in spiritual work, the one factor to be taken into account is God. He is the one Person to make contact with. That is the preciousness of spiritual work that is truly spiritual-it is related to the Lord Himself In relation to Him there is work to do, but it is work that produces no sweat. If we have to advertise our ministry and use great effort to promote it, then it is obvious that it does not spring from prayer in the presence of God. If you really work in God's presence, men will respond when you come into their presence. You will not have to use endless means in order to help them. Spiritual work is God's work, and when God works, man does not need to expend so much effort that he sweats over it. Let us in utter honesty examine ourselves before God today. Let us ask Him: "Am I serving You, or am I merely serving the work? Is my ministry truly unto you Lord, or is it only ministry to your House?" If you are pouring with sweat all the time, it is safe to conclude that it is the House you are serving, not the Lord. If all your busyness is related to human need, you may know that you are serving men, not God. I am not despising the work of slaying sacrifices at the altar. It is work for God and someone has to do it-but God wants something beyond that. The Sons of Zadok God cannot secure everyone for service to Himself, for many of His own are reluctant to leave the thrill and excitement of the outer court. They are bent on serving the people. But what about us? Oh that today we might say to the Lord: "I am willing to forsake things, I am willing to forsake the work, I am willing to forsake the outer court and serve You in the inner sanctuary." When God could find no way to bring all the Levites to the place of ministry to Himself, He chose the sons of Zadok from among them for this special service. Why did He select the sons of Zadok? Because when the children of Israel went astray, they recognised that the outer court had been irreparably corrupted, so they did not seek to preserve it. Instead, they made it their business to preserve the sanctity of the Holy Place. Brothers and sisters, can you bear to let the external structure go, or must you persist in putting up a scaffolding to preserve it? It is the Holy Place that God is out to preserve-a place utterly set apart for Him. I beseech you before God to hear His call to for sake the outer court and devote yourself to His service in the Holy Place. I love to read about the prophets and teachers in the church at Antioch: "As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Ghost said: Separate me Barnabas and Sau1 for the work whereunto I have called them" (Acts 13:2). We see there that the Holy Spirit commissions men to the work as they are ministering to the Lord. Unless ministry to the Lord is the thing that governs us, the work will be in confusion. God does not want volunteers for His work; He wants conscripts. He will not have you preaching the gospel just because you want to. The work of the Lord is suffering serious damage today at the hand of volunteers; it lacks those who can say as He did: "He that sent me..." Brothers and sisters, the work of God is God's own work, and not work that you can take up at your pleasure. Neither churches, nor missionary societies, nor evangelistic bands can send men to work for God. The authority to commission men is not in the hands of men, but solely, in the hands of the Spirit of God. Serving the Lord does not mean that we do not serve people, but it does mean that all service to people has service to the Lord as its basis. It is service Godward that urges us out manward. Luke 17:7-10 tells us clearly what the Lord is after. These are two kinds of work referred to here: ploughing the field and tending the flock. Both are very important occupations, yet the Lord says that when a servant returns from such work, he is expected to provide for his master's satisfaction before sitting down to enjoy his own food. When we have returned from our toil in the field, we are apt to muse complacently on the much work we have accomplished. But the Lord will say, "Gird yourself and give me to eat." He requires ministry to Himself. We may have laboured in a wide field and cared for many sheep, but all our toil in the field and among the flock does not exempt us from ministry to the Lord's own personal satisfaction. That is our supreme task. What are you really after? Is it only work in the field, preaching the gospel to the unsaved? Is it just tending the flock, caring for the needs of the saved? Or are we seeing to it that the Lord can eat to His full satisfaction and drink till His thirst is quenched? True, it is necessary for us also to eat and drink, but that cannot be till after the Lord is satisfied. We, too, must have our enjoyment, but that can never be until His joy is first made full. Let us ask ourselves: Does our work minister to our satisfaction or to the Lord's? I fear that when we have worked for the Lord, we are often thoroughly satisfied before He is satisfied. We are often quite happy with our work when He has found no joy in it. Blessed are they who can differentiate between ministry to sinners or saints, and ministry to Him. Such discernment is not easily acquired. Often it is only by much drastic dealing that we learn the difference between ministry to the Lord Himself and ministry to the House. Let us seek the grace of God that He may reveal to us what it really means to minister to Him! The Royal Daughters are clothed in Majesty 02/01/2012
**EDIT** 1 Peter 3:1-6 Wives 1 In the same way, you wives must accept the authority of your husbands. Then, even if some refuse to obey the Good News, your godly lives will speak to them without any words. They will be won over 2 by observing your pure and reverent lives. 3 Don’t be concerned about the outward beauty of fancy hairstyles, expensive jewelry, or beautiful clothes. 4 You should clothe yourselves instead with the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God. 5 This is how the holy women of old made themselves beautiful. They trusted God and accepted the authority of their husbands. 6 For instance, Sarah obeyed her husband, Abraham, and called him her master. You are her daughters when you do what is right without fear of what your husbands might do. One sure sign you know you've trusted God is that you have submitted to your husband's authority; not complaining about his leadership, but in meekness and a quiet spirit you follow and encourage him to follow God no matter the cost. We are called helpmates; woman for the man and not man for the woman. When I put my trust in my husband's leadership, I put my trust in God. So beautiful, to see it so right! True beauty for women is to trust God and accept the authority of their husbands. Real beauty that does not fade and leads to eternity! Titus 2:4-5New Living Translation (NLT) 4 These older women must train the younger women to love their husbands and their children, 5 to live wisely and be pure, to work in their homes, to do good, and to be submissive to their husbands. Then they will not bring shame on the word of God. Psalm 45:10-11New King James Version (NKJV) 10 Listen, O daughter, Consider and incline your ear; Forget your own people also, and your father’s house; 11 So the King will greatly desire your beauty; Because He is your Lord, worship Him. To forget your own people and your father's house means to forsake all for God. The King will greatly desire our beauty when we come to the cross (die to our fleshly desires) and follow Him; to put God above all that is dear to us, like our family, our own people, our father's house...The King MUST be first. A good example of this is found in Sarah. Sarah followed Abraham; even through many trials, she was there with him; leaving her family, all that she was familiar with to help her husband obey God. What is unfading beauty for women? To take up her cross and make God first; to trust God, and follow her husband; like how Sarah followed Abraham and called him lord. Our cross is to die to feminism and live for God. Psalm 45:13-14New Living Translation (NLT) 13 The bride, a princess, looks glorious in her golden gown. 14 In her beautiful robes, she is led to the king, accompanied by her bridesmaids. A woman who fears the Lord and submits to her husband is clothed in majesty and the King greatly delights in her beauty! She is His bride, His beautiful princess. Wife of Noble Character 10 Who can find a virtuous and capable wife? She is more precious than rubies. 11 Her husband can trust her, and she will greatly enrich his life. 12 She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life. 13 She finds wool and flax and busily spins it. 14 She is like a merchant’s ship, bringing her food from afar. 15 She gets up before dawn to prepare breakfast for her household and plan the day’s work for her servant girls. 16 She goes to inspect a field and buys it; with her earnings she plants a vineyard. (uses money wisely) 17 She is energetic and strong, a hard worker. 18 She makes sure her dealings are profitable; her lamp burns late into the night. 19 Her hands are busy spinning thread, her fingers twisting fiber. 20 She extends a helping hand to the poor and opens her arms to the needy. 21 She has no fear of winter for her household, for everyone has warm clothes. 22 She makes her own bedspreads. She dresses in fine linen and purple gowns. 23 Her husband is well known at the city gates, where he sits with the other civic leaders. 24 She makes belted linen garments and sashes to sell to the merchants. 25 She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future. 26 When she speaks, her words are wise, and she gives instructions with kindness. 27 She carefully watches everything in her household and suffers nothing from laziness. 28 Her children stand and bless her. Her husband praises her: 29 “There are many virtuous and capable women in the world, but you surpass them all!” 30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the LORD will be greatly praised. 31 Reward her for all she has done. Let her deeds publicly declare her praise. Dream page on the works 01/30/2012
Working on the dream page. Will have it back up soon. What's wrong with T.V.? 10/25/2011
**Our family have a television set in our home, but it doesn't have cable, so we can't view any channels. All we get is fuzz on our T.V. We use it so our kids can watch dvd's that are modest in appearance and language. The T.V. itself isn't evil; its all the movies and shows that you are able to view through it, if you don't control it. Our T.V. is controlled by not having cable. I know my flesh can be weak so I will not set a trap for myself and my family by having cable. And yes, the internet can be just as bad. We do have internet, but it hasn't been a snare to us. But, if it ever becomes a snare to us, then it needs to be booted out too! Christian Families Will NOT ALLOW Television in Their Homes By Daniel Mena I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes; I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me. Ps. 101:3 Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it: but thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing. De. 7:26 Abstain from all appearance of evil. 1 Th. 5:22 Then said I unto them, Cast ye away every man the abominations of his eyes, and defile not yourselves with the idols of Egypt: I am the Lord your God. Ez. 20:7 TV subtly establishes a carnal and worldly standard of values in the mind of every viewer. It promotes HUMANISM as the religion of the world. It advocates child rebellion to all authority—home, church, school, and civil. TV subtly teaches fornication, adultery, and homosexuality as acceptable alternative lifestyles. TV daily parades divorce as the normal solution to marital conflict, and openly suggests that marriage is obsolete. TV by example suggests violence as a vent for anger and frustration. TV offers a high mental diet of terror, bloodshed, brutality, and violence. TV becomes the language instructor of the home; teaching base, vulgar, and unwholesome terms of speech. TV has become the CRIME IDEA BANK of the 20th century, familiarizing the general public with the most modern and sophisticated criminal plans and tools needed to rob, terrorize, and devastate civilization. These ideas and products are slowly demonstrated and carefully explained, down to fine details. TV is pornographic, with no standard of modesty or decency. TV openly promotes the sinful fantasy of extramarital arrangements. TV is used to bait people and instill in them a curiosity for the occult. TV is as addictive as alcohol, tobacco, or drugs. TV is a mind trap, using the unusual and exciting as a lure to draw the attention into the mind-mangling machine. TV will establish the “NORM” in your home that everything else is evaluated by. Much of the news on TV is either biased, half truth, or a complete lie. If TV is your “NORM,” then the Bible will subtly be relegated to the category of the abnormal. TV is the Roman coliseum of the 20th century, where multitudes flock to be entertained on gore. Much of the news on TV is either biased, half truth, or a complete lie. The moral standard of TV has always been regulated by the demands of the demoralized majorities. Mass media and subliminal seduction are tools being used today as political steam-rolling machines. Why are so many people blinded and bound by television? It is the same spirit that Eve surrendered to in the garden. Genesis 3:6: “When the woman saw that the tree … was pleasant to the eyes …” The LUST OF THE EYES is a powerfully curious and egocentric enemy of righteousness. TV openly and completely contradicts Philippians 4:7-8: “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are …” True—TV is filled with lies, bias, and deception. Honest—TV is dishonest, approving of sin and openly accepting the dishonorable as desirable. Just—TV allows the wicked wealthy to profit at the cost of a warped and twisted generation. Pure—TV content is as corrupt as a cesspool. Lovely—Research has proven that godly love cannot be portrayed over TV. It is much more adapted to a portrayal of hatred and violence. Of good report—TV is known worldwide for its high diet of BAD NEWS. If there be any virtue—TV is the devil’s campaign agent for immorality. If there be any praise—The name of the Lord is blasphemed openly on TV. Think on these things—A child of God cannot obey Philippians 4:7-8 and watch TV. Now the big questions ... How much different is the Internet than television? What will be the influence of Internet use in your church, 20 years down the road? What will be the influence of Internet use in your family, 20 years down the road? What will be the influence of Internet in your life, 20 years down the road? The above questions can be summarized and answered by the one big question that we need to ask ourself: Does my use of the Internet expand the kingdom of God, or detract from it? ~ And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out ... Greetings Brethren, Just wanted to send out a quick update regarding the Scott family. We've recently moved from our land in the mountains to a place in Albuquerque. We rented a small apartment in the Hispanic part of town (which is great because I can continue learning and speaking Spanish). As of now, we've been here for about three weeks. It's been a blessing to be back in an area where I can daily preach the gospel to others. Right now, we fellowship with a brother who moved here with us, and Lord-willing, another family will be moving here soon as well. It's my desire to labor here every day and see the Lord add to our number those who are in Christ. OCCUPY WALL STREET If you have been keeping up with the news, you're probably aware of the Occupy Wall Street protests that have been going on all over the country. These are protests where individuals are protesting corporate greed, the rich, social injustice, economic injustice, and a host of other things. Over the last few weeks, the protest has spread from Wall Street to there now being protests in many states across the country. Shortly after we moved here to Albuquerque, I noticed there was an Occupy Wall Street protest taking place at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. Every time I would pass by the University, I would see people in the middle of the street and on the median holding up their protest signs. Right behind the protesters is a campus park where many of them spend the nights and stay on the campus grounds in their protest. If you actually get out and talk to the protesters, one thing that you quickly realize is that most of the people are not on the same page. Everyone has a complaint, no one really has any solutions, and there are multitudes of people protesting unrelated issues. The movement itself is supposed to be focused on corporate greed and things related to it, but you'll also see people hold up signs that say "Free Palestine" and the like, which are totally unrelated issues. So after seeing the large number of people involved in the protest, I prayed about it and then started to go there daily to preach the gospel to those involved. I'll share a couple stories from my time there. One of the first guys I talked to happened to be a young Arab man who had been dancing in the middle of the street and holding a sign that said "Free Palestine." As I was talking to him about his cause, a campus reporter came up to interview us. He interviewed this man first and then wanted to interview me. I told him I wasn't with the protesters and didn't really agree with their cause. He talked with me for a few minutes and then left. As I continued to talk to the Arab man, I pointed out some of the hypocrisy in what he was saying. After not being able to respond, he admitted that he didn't really care about the protest and that he was really just there for the free pizza! As I talked with him more, I learned that he had been kicked out of the army, kicked out of a college in AZ, and he was just kicked out of another school in NM. He had then come to Albuquerque and happened to stumble upon the protest and decided to camp out with them. I then shifted our conversation to talk about morality; and in fact, these protests can be boiled down to one issue: it's about a group of people deciding what is morally right for others to do or not do. I personally think this is great because when the issue is about morality, it's an easy way to talk about where morals come from and then to talk about Jesus Christ. So in a short amount of time, I was able to talk to this man about absolute truth that comes from God alone and then talk to this man about the truth of Jesus Christ. Though he was defensive at times, overall he was receptive and listened. In fact, for the next three days, we picked up this young man, brought him over to our place for dinner, and spent hours talking about the word of God and his need for Christ. There was definitely a battle going on inside him, as you could see that one minute he seemed humbled by God's word and able to see his need for Christ, and then the next minute he would be defensive and become almost a different person. After three days of reasoning with this man about Christ, I was driving to the store to buy some groceries. I was listening to the local news, and they were talking about how a protester had been arrested for battery, trespassing, and disorderly conduct. I just knew it was this man because of the anger I had seen in him. (He had told me before that he was against the peaceful protest and wanted to start burning cars and looting stores.) Sure enough, it was him. We had given him a Bible, and my prayer and hope was that he would read it while he was in jail. I saw him after he was released, but his heart seemed to have gotten harder. He had to leave town for a few days but said he would come by our place when he returned. Just yesterday, he came by our house while we were out and left a note on our door. Lord-willing, we'll be able to spend more time with him and continue to point him to Jesus Christ. Aside from him, I've talked to all kinds of people at the protest. People that outright reject God, people that don't care, a college professor, and some that seem as if God has specifically prepared them to be open and hear the gospel. In fact, one of the guys I talked to yesterday was a man who was totally open to everything about Christ. There was a group of Mexicans and Native Americans that were arguing with someone about something. I walked over to them and passed out some gospel tracts, and this one young man just stopped, sat down, and read the whole tract (while everyone else continued arguing). When he was done, he looked at me and said, "That was really good." I was able to spend the next two hours talking to this one man about the gospel of Jesus Christ. This man saw his need for Christ and saw that he was unconverted, even though he did believe in Jesus Christ. The Lord helped this man see his true condition, and this man did see that God was appealing to him through me. It was wonderful to talk to him. I talked to another man who professed to be a believer but confessed that he was a backslider. I asked him to share his testimony, but like many who profess Christ, he didn't have one. He was a false convert. I shared the gospel with him and his need to believe and follow Christ. He said he wanted to finish traveling and seeing other cities, and then he would seek Christ. So he basically wanted to satisfy all his fleshly desires before seeking the Lord. I began to open up the scripture and show him what he was really saying, how he was treating God -- that because he said he had understanding of the gospel and claimed to be a follower of Christ, he was in fact trampling the blood of Christ under his feet and subjecting him to an open shame. I really sensed the Spirit of the Lord, and God's jealousy, as I shared with this man. After a couple minutes of sharing, he was slowly backing up, and then he said he didn't want to talk anymore. He was looking to leave our conversation in a hurry. I warned and exhorted him as he left. The word of God was definitely having an effect on this man. To some we're the smell of death, and to others we're the fragrance of life. (2 Cor. 2:16) NEIGHBORHOOD While I definitely enjoy preaching and evangelizing at the Occupy Wall Street event, our main ministry focus is going to be in the Hispanic neighborhoods that I live by. I'll be ministering daily in this area, and Braden will be joining me on weekends. Right now, we have a fellowship meeting on Sundays and are planning to have a Bible study during the week and another on Sunday evenings. God has already given us a lot of favor here, and we are praying and believing the Lord IS going to save people and bring them into his kingdom. ROB BELL As many of you know, I created a site to respond to Rob Bell's book, "Love Wins." The site has given me many opportunities to share with people who support Rob Bell and believe what he teaches. The greatest opportunity it has given me is to share and help other see how to read biblical passages in context. So many people just accept what a supposed minister of God teaches without examining the context of the verses being used. Being able to help people see the truth in the Bible for themselves has been a great blessing, one that I hope will produce lasting fruit in people's lives. While I certainly don't claim to be one that has the biblical gift of teaching, it should go without saying that one who does have that gift (or those who teach) should want to achieve more than just imparting biblical truth to people. Of course biblical teachers are going to want to teach biblical truth, but if that's all they do, then I don't think they've really accomplished all that God would have them accomplish with the gift he has given them. Hopefully, teachers will see that in addition to teaching biblical truth, they should desire to teach others to teach themselves. This is how believers can really see lasting fruit in others' lives -- teaching them how to rightly divide God's word. Thankfully, this is what the www.HellsBell.net site has allowed me to do. In spite of the fact that the vast majority of responses to the site have been negative and against it, it has allowed me to engage people in conversations that deal with understanding the scriptures by reading them in context. If believers can help others do this very thing, it will keep many people from being deceived and from believing things that God does not teach. I am hoping that God will continue to draw visitors to the site and allow me to speak with them about His word. 180 THE MOVIE On a side note, I want to encourage you to watch Ray Comfort's new movie called "180." It's a thirty minute movie on youtube that shows the "spirit" and reasoning behind so many people that support abortion. Ray Comfort will take you to another time in history when people began to accept subtle lies. He shows how the results of believing these lies led to the destruction of masses of people, just as abortion does today. And of course, as Ray always does, he ties everything back to the gospel of Jesus Christ. I hope you'll watch it and share it with others. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7y2KsU_dhwI&feature=player_embedded SUPPORT CHANGE This primarily concerns and affects those who send financial support to us, or to the missionaries we support, through Mission Projects. As of now, Mission Projects is no longer a non-profit organization. They are still a Missions organization, but they currently do not have status as a non-profit. Any funds sent to them for support are no longer tax deductible. This doesn't mean that funds cannot be sent to them; it just means that the donation won't be tax deductible. As of now, I don't have another option for those who wish to send financial support and receive a tax deduction for their gift. If this isn't a concern for you, and you wish to continue supporting the work we do, you can still send your support to Mission Projects, and they will still send the full amount to us. (Though Mission Projects is not a non-profit, they do not profit off of any support they receive.) Or if you prefer, you can send your support directly to our PO BOX and simply make your check out to myself. http://www.preachingjesuschrist.com/donate.html I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and want to thank each of you that do support us in the work we do. If you have any questions about this, please feel free to email me. Also, if you'd like to help or want to know of any of our specific needs as they relate to evangelism and preaching here, you can email me directly, and I'll be glad to share how you can help. Again, I want to thank each of you that support us through your giving and prayers. Through your giving and prayers, the Lord has always supplied us with what we need to do what He's called us to do. If you will, please keep our ministry here in prayer. Please pray for me as I preach in this community and seek for the Lord to grow his church. Please pray that God would continue to give us favor and direct our steps as we reach out with the gospel of Jesus Christ. May the Lord bless you all. Matthew 23:5-11 New King James Version (NKJV) 5 But all their works they do to be seen by men. They make their phylacteries broad and enlarge the borders of their garments. 6 They love the best places at feasts, the best seats in the synagogues, 7 greetings in the marketplaces, and to be called by men, ‘Rabbi, Rabbi.’ 8 But you, do not be called ‘Rabbi’; for One is your Teacher, the Christ, and you are all brethren. 9 Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven. 10 And do not be called teachers; for One is your Teacher, the Christ. 11 But he who is greatest among you shall be your servant. Hmmm... how is this seen today? 5 But all their works they do to be seen by men. They make their phylacteries broad and enlarge the borders of their garments Could this be the same as the Pastor in his Armani suit with a large choir backing him up, the Priest in his long robe with his altar boys following behind him, the Pope in his extravagant rich colored robe and fish tail hat with his cardinals serving him as though he is above everyone, or the emergent/post modernity Pastor with his foe hawk hair, hip clothes, and a rockin worship band behind him? They love the best places at feasts, the best seats in the synagogues, 7 greetings in the marketplaces, and to be called by men, ‘Rabbi, Rabbi. Could this be the same as Pastors, Popes, Priests loving to be noticed among men and recognized that they are a great leader for the church, loving to be invited to very important events, loving to be recognized by titles, plaques, and awards to make sure men see all their works and boast of all their achievements? Such men love to be called by titles instead of being known as one of the "lowly" brethren. They have an attitude that they must be recognized by all their hard and holy work they do unto the Lord. Of course, in most countries people do not use the word Rabbi. What is the term used today in America? Head Pastor, Priest, Father, Pope, Reverend. Great titles used mainly to make you known, to make you elevated above other brethren so that you are looked upon as different than other brethren; like with great importance, and to be respected and treated differently than the other brethren. Sure, there are Elders in the bible; those with the gifts of being an apostle, prophet, teacher, and evangelist. But they are gifts to be used to help mature the body, to watch and bring order/discipline, and not to lord it over and control them like the heathens (Mathew 20:25-26). This is a warning from Jesus: But you, do not be called ‘Rabbi’; for One is your Teacher, the Christ, and you are all brethren. 9 Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven. 10 And do not be called teachers; for One is your Teacher, the Christ. Meaning, don't make yourself higher than others and wanting to be seen as the head of everybody. Don't take Christ place where you desire men to depend on you for truth and not directing them to Christ who is the one that should be sought above men. 11 But he who is greatest among you shall be your servant. Humility is beautiful. May we desire it deeply and be content that God alone see's our works. Meditation on Proverbs 10/06/2011
Prov.28:13 He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy. Prov.28:4 Those who forsake the law praise the wicked (ungodly), but such as keep the law contend with them. Prov.27:19 As in water face reflect face, so a man's heart (feelings, will, intellect) reveals the man. Prov.24:10 If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small Prov.21:22 A wise man scales the city of the mighty, and brings down the trusted stronghold. Prov.21:16 A man who wanders from the way of understanding will rest in the assembly of the dead. Prov.20:19 Therefore do not associate with one who flatters with the lips. Prov.16:2 (NLT) People may be pure in their own eyes, but the Lord examines their motives. Prov.13:20 He who walks with wise men will be wise, but the companion of fools will be destroyed. Prov.12:1 To learn you must love discipline (knowledge-God's words, His commands), it is stupid to hate correction. Prov.28:5 (NLT) Evil people don't understand justice, but those who follow the Lord (obey His word, commands) understand completely. Prov.28:23 (NTL) In the end, people appreciate honest criticism (rebuke) far more than flattery. |
